TREATMENT PLAN
A mutually developed treatment plan involves both the
Control and Restorative Phase.
CONTROL PHASE: SHORT RANGE GOALS.
Tooth decay and gum disease are prevalent in our society,
and while neither are curable, both are controllable.
Periodic professional visits to our office, and a once
a day intelligent cleaning regiment should enable all
of us to become healthy and stay that way. Beginning
and moderate gum disease is routinely treated in our
hygiene department, sometimes requiring more than one
appointment. Patients with advanced gum disease are
normally referred to a periodontist. Areas of decay
are identified and treated in a manner chosen.
RESTORATIVE
PHASE: LONG RANGE GOALS.
Once active decay and gum disease are under control
you are ready to proceed to the restorative phase. This
involves replacing missing teeth, correcting bite discrepancies,
treating TMJ problems, working with implants, and providing
cosmetic dentistry. This kind of dentistry is more sophisticated,
but the goal is to restore your teeth and mouth so you
will have the least chance of having to repair it again.
The real beauty of this long range planning is that
with your dental health under control you need to start
the restorative phase only when you are ready... when
it fits your budget and when you truly want it. Get
it only when you sense the value in raising the comfort,
function, and attractiveness of your smile to a higher
level. |
