HEALTH AND RESPONSIBILITY
A difficult dilemma confronts us when we consider the
topic of will, commitment and responsibility in relation
to oral health. With so many advancements in medicine
and dentistry people tend to think they are the object
of a CURE, whereas HEALTH, in its deeper and authentic
sense can come only with the growth of RESPONSIBILITY
on the part of the patient. Another way of saying this
is “you cannot purchase health.” It is a
mutual and/or shared responsibility with both the office
and the patients understanding and performing their
respective parts.
DOES
THIS MAKE SENSE?
If our approach to dental care seems sound to you, then
you may choose to enter into a program of prevention,
correction, cosmetics, and maintenance with us. It may
take almost no time at all, or several years to achieve
all that you want, with the determining factors being
your initial oral health, and you own time-table for
completion of any dental work.
IN CONCLUSION
We have concluded that the only meaningful difference
between dental practices is in how patients are treated.
In embracing this belief, we have committed ourselves
to outstanding patient care. We hope you have enjoyed
learning about us. If you choose, we will begin learning
about you. If you are already on the road to health,
and have the smile you want, congratulations. Continue
your journey with us. If not…now may be the time
to begin. We are ready when you are. And finally, in
judging the success of our office we feel that: The
Health of our Practice is determined by the Health of
our Patients.

WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT THAT PATIENTS
UNDERSTAND THEIR DENTAL NEEDS?
The extent to which you understand your mouth dictates
your ability to plan your dental future. We have learned
that we can be much more effective in presenting treatment
to patients when we stop telling them how much we know, and
instead lead the patients to an understanding of themselves.
Patients need to discover and commit to any problems
that may exist. They must understand and choose their
own solutions and believe in them before they will act.
People simply don’t learn well when being told
what to do. They need to think, understand and choose.
WHY IS IT
IMPORTANT PATIENTS LEARN TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES? |
| As dentists, it’s
probably more important that we understand what
is going on in the upper half of the patient’s
head than the lower half. We need to remember that
talking and teaching is not the same as listening
and learning. People need to think for themselves
to be able to learn, and this is not done by simply
giving the answers, but by asking questions. People
need to solve their own problems for them to remain
involved. If we can sit down with a patient and
with our guidance help them think and diagnosis
themselves, we have no need to lecture them about
what we’ve found, or to try and convince them
about what needs to be done. They’re already
there |

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE
THE POWER OF A SMILE!
Drs. Ryerson and Gillespie believe that improving patients’
smiles through health driven, conservative cosmetic
dental techniques has a profound impact on their overall
health, appearance, and self-confidence. Both doctors
have spent countless hours increasing their knowledge
of the porcelain veneer process, which gives the patient
a more youthful appearance, literally erasing years
off of the patients’ smiles. We want you to know
that we will try to do everything to make your experience
and the product we put into your mouth “as good
as it gets.” We are dedicated to serving you but
we also want to make your time with us enjoyable. We
try to help you make the right decision for yourself
and make you understand that dentistry is no longer
the dreaded appointment that it was years ago. Our team
believes that a trip to the dentist need not be uncomfortable,
and therefore we try to go out of our way to make each
visit not only tolerable, but enjoyable. We are dedicated
to improving not only your inward health but your outward
beauty. Our job is giving our patients “a new
lease on LIFE.” A lot of people do not know that
the ability and tools are out there to give you the
smile you have always wanted. Thanks to the hit T.V.
series “Extreme Makeover,” the word is spreading
like wild fire to educate the public that movie stars
are not the only ones who can have the “Hollywood
Smile.” No one would imagine that a visit to the
dentist could generate image enhancing, life-changing
results. Call us today to begin your life transformation. |
