CHOOSING
A DENTAL PRACTICE.
Hello, and Welcome!
This section of our website is prepared for prospective
patients who want to know how we approach dentistry
and care for our patients. Long before the current
interest in smile makeovers, we had established a
reputation of excellence due to our comprehensive
care based on complete exams, a strong preventively-oriented
approach to periodontal health, and quality restorative
dentistry. In helping you decide if we are the practice
for you, the following information is provided.
FIRST, YOU MUST KNOW YOURSELF.
We would like each of you reading this information
to feel this is written especially for you, but since
we are all different, this is extremely unlikely. Can
you find yourself in one of the following categories?
- A few people are blessed with naturally healthy
teeth and gums that only require the effective daily
use of the toothbrush, and perhaps an occasional visit
to the dentist.
- Many are minimally involved with
infrequent cavities and only beginning gum disease,
but must be very good brushers and perhaps floss a
few areas daily, while visiting the dentist for cleanings,
x-rays and exams every six months to keep disease
under control.
- Some will be forever challenged
with frequent tooth decay, broken teeth and moderate
to advanced gum disease, and are resigned to extensive
home care efforts and frequent visits to the dentist,
and still are not guaranteed teeth for life.
- Then there are those unsuspecting souls
who really do not know what kind of shape they are
in because:
—they rarely go to the dentist.
—they only go when they think they need to.
—they tell the dentist what they want done.
—they only want what the insurance company
will pay for.
—or, and this is the real tragedy, they go
to a dental office that has, over time, been beaten
down by insurance companies, and whose resulting
practice mentality and health care delivery has
slipped into the habit of diagnosing and treating
only what the insurance companies will cover. What
kind of health do you think these patients, and
those practices, are truly in?
We value and serve all of the above patients, but know
that the forever challenged and unsuspecting
souls can really gain from coming to an office
like ours. We still believe in the sanctity of the doctor/patient
relationship, and that together we can make the mouth
healthy. |
